Choosing the Right Exercise Equipment for Home Gym

No time is bad to start a good thing.  The same is amplifyingly correct when it comes to the physical workout. The immense benefits of exercise are something which we all know, but very few have actually realized it. Unavailability of time, procrastination or simple sloth reasons might be many which can maintain that wrong barrier between you and the work out. But amidst all these predicaments, if you have taken a move of exercise, then you are an inch closer to the fitness. Well begun is half done!

Quite understandably, many people opt for the home gym. It saves time of traveling, high fees of health centers due to their services and expertise. Also, it gives that privacy, comfort level, that homely feel which is not possible in the commercial places.

Though house workout is a good and viable option, it comes with a big risk as well. You are going to operate without the supervision of any expert. You are all alone with the giant machines.  In this scenario It’s better, in fact, it’s a must to have detailed knowledge about the exercise equipments for home. The wrong selection as well as wrong use can make you permanently injured. In certain cases, sudden death has also been reported. Indeed, it can have fatal consequences beyond your imagination. It’s better to be watchful, than to be sorry!

Care To Be Taken While Using And Buying Exercise Equipment:

A )Treadmills-
The most commonly used equipment in workout is a treadmill. It comes in motorized as well as manual form.
What One Must See:
Best duty motor of at least 1.5 horsepower.
·         Size of belt should be minimum 4 feet long and 16 inches wide.
·         Minimum speed of 10 mph.
·         10% Inclination.
·         The bed should be a good shock absorber.
·         The belt should be stable while walking or running.
·         The frame must remain stable during running.
·         Easy to use control panel.
B )Stationary Bikes-
They are comparatively recent and more popular equipments. They are cheaper and require less maintenance than the treadmill.
What One Must See:
  • The adjustment is the key. Make sure that the knees are little bent when the foot is at the bottom of the base.
  • The bike must have sturdy legs.
  • Try to learn the best pedal clips by which you can burn the most calories and you can get maximum benefits out of your hard work.
C) Elliptical Trainers-
They are the first choice of many buyers, as they put less pressure on the joints and bones. Using an elliptical trainer is as forceful as running an 11.5-minute mile or taking a stressful aerobics class.
What One Must See:
  • They have many programs. One must take a test drive and see if it’s suitable for you. If the reply is positive, then  and only them buy the machine.
  • They take a huge chunk of space. So make sure you have enough space to install it.
  • They are bulky and heavy. In case of damage or repair, transporting them can be a hindrance.
Cost VS Quality
It’s always a tightrope situation to balance the cost and quality. Very rarely they coexist, and in the fitness industry that rarity quotient is even lower. Good quality gym machines will cost you much higher than the inferior quality utensils.

But this is not the territory where you can be a cost buyer rather than the value buyer. It related to your health and your physical well being. Remember, the cheap machines which you are not comfortable with are not worthy, as they will remain unused.

Just like medicine varies according to disease, similarly equipment varies according to your needs. Also if you are creating home gym, then you will have to think about aspects like availability of space and affordability.

Exercise can be divided in two main parts, Aerobic and Anaerobic. It’s always beneficial if you know the positives and negatives of both these forms, as it will help you to decide which form is more suitable for you. Aerobic is low intensity exercise focusing on meeting energy demand with oxygen. It improves blood circulation and reduces blood pressure. It is efficient in reducing diabetes as well. But it is not useful if you want to build lean muscles. It is only effective for fat loss when used consistently.  So, it will only keep you fit and sound. Anaerobic is intense and its Purpose is muscle building. It is generally carried out by athletes. As it generates lactic acid, its overdose can be detrimental to muscle function. It can also lead to fatigue, that is muscular failure.

After analyzing both the forms, you have facts about them with you. Now depending upon what type of exercise you would like to do, your equipment will vary. Broadly gym equipment come in two main categories, namely strength series and cardio series. Strength series majorly emphasizes on strengthening of muscles. It aims to improve power of your muscles. It includes instruments for chest, back, shoulder, legs and abdomen. For every body part you will have many tools. For example, for chest vertical chest press, dual axis flat bench. For back you will have bar and mid row. Certain tools come which can be used for multipurpose, like power cage. The power cage has many uses. Like, it allows bench press and on other hand, it serves the platform on which athlete can do unusual heavy lifts. Cardio series includes spinning bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines and rowers.  You can buy any of these equipment as per your budget and requirements.

Fitness is not a mirage for those who are ready to work hard and for whom fitness is not just a fad, but a passion. While summarizing this, I will say that with the right information, training and health club equipment you can too realize your fitness dream.
